Le fait d&rsquo;avoir un embranchement sur le site de cinq de nos usines nous permet de charger efficacement les wagons sans avoir besoin de modes de transport suppl\u00e9mentaires, ce qui r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre et \u00e9conomise du carburant. Chaque conteneur exp\u00e9di\u00e9 par train signifie un camion longue distance de moins sur l&rsquo;autoroute, ce qui r\u00e9duit la congestion, r\u00e9duit la pollution et \u00e9conomise de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie. Par cons\u00e9quent, il faut plus de camions pour livrer la m\u00eame quantit\u00e9 de marchandises lourdes par rapport aux produits plus l\u00e9gers. Plus il y a de camions sur la route, plus les \u00e9missions de carbone sont produites. La liti\u00e8re pour chat est un produit lourd qui est traditionnellement emball\u00e9 \u00e0 la livre, les consommateurs ayant l&rsquo;impression qu&rsquo;un prix inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 la livre est une meilleure valeur. Cependant, les utilisateurs remplissent leur bac \u00e0 liti\u00e8re au niveau souhait\u00e9 en fonction du volume et non du poids. En 2011, Oil-Dri a chang\u00e9 l&rsquo;industrie avec l&rsquo;introduction de la liti\u00e8re l\u00e9g\u00e8re avec notre argile naturellement poreuse et de densit\u00e9 l\u00e9g\u00e8re qui p\u00e8se jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 50 % moins et offre le m\u00eame volume ou nombre d&rsquo;utilisations que les autres liti\u00e8res traditionnelles. Nous avons ensuite appliqu\u00e9 la m\u00eame approche bas\u00e9e sur le volume \u00e0 notre activit\u00e9 d&rsquo;absorbants industriels. Nous sommes maintenant en mesure de charger plus d&rsquo;unit\u00e9s sur chaque camion, ce qui r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement le nombre de v\u00e9hicules sur la route. En cons\u00e9quence, moins de carburant est consomm\u00e9 et les \u00e9missions de carbone sont r\u00e9duites.
